Vision in Action - Arts & Culture grant program thriving in city

For the third year in a row, the City of St. Louis Park is offering funding for new arts programs that support community pride, connect artists and the community, and engage people in creative learning.

The City of St. Louis Park’s Arts & Culture Grant Program is a joint project of the City of St. Louis Park, the St. Louis Park Community Foundation, and St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts. The program makes $20,000 available for music, visual arts, theater, film, multimedia, dance, and other art projects scheduled between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2008.

Artists, arts groups, students, community groups, neighborhood, cultural and religious organizations are encouraged to apply. Applicants need not reside in St. Louis Park, but projects must take place within the city.

Vision in Action - Bookmark in the Park program

“Bookmark in the Park” is a collaboration between the city, school district, neighborhood groups, county library, health care community, businesses and residents committed to promoting the many benefits of reading.

The existence of a program such as “Bookmark” underscores the emphasis the entire St. Louis Park community places on the importance of reading. By encouraging all residents to read the same books, the hope is that conversations will evolve and bridges will be built between people of all generations, cultures and backgrounds.
