Park Place Boulevard Corridor Planning Studyupdated: Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Work on the Park Place Boulevard Corridor Planning Study is complete. The study looks at three major challenges in the corridor:
- Improving connections along Park Place Boulevard and into Golden Valley along Xenia Avenue
- Increasing connectivity to the Cedar Lake Regional Trail
- Improving access to Minneapolis and Theodore Wirth Park.
This study, funded through a grant by Transit for Livable Communities through the Federal Non-Motorized Pilot Program, follows closely on the heels of the city-wide Sidewalks and Trails Plan. The project consultant is Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. The intent of the study is to build upon the Sidewalk and Trails Plan by studying this small area in greater detail. Golden Valley, located to the north of St. Louis Park, is also taking part in the study.
Citizen input, paired with input from employees working in the study area (there are over 20,000 of them), was critical to the completion of the study. To obtain direct input, two meetings were held. The first focused on employees working in the area; the second, on citizens living in the area and using routes for recreation and commuting.
