To Cancel A 911 Call - Call 911

If you - or your child - called 911 by mistake, don't hang up. Instead, stay on the line and tell the dispatcher you made a mistake. Even if you hang up quickly, your phone number and address are displayed on the Emergency Communications Center's computer screen. If you don't cancel the call, a squad car may be dispatched to your address.

If you accidentally set off your burglar alarm, please call 911 to cancel the alarms automatic request for a squad car. If the alarm call is cancelled BEFORE police arrive, you will not have to pay a $100 false alarm penalty.
