Buckthorn
updated: Monday, March 19, 2012Buckthorn is an invasive terrestrial (on land) plant that is found in many areas throughout St. Louis Park, the Metro area and, unfortunately, almost all of Minnesota. Buckthorn removal on private properties is encouraged by the City of St. Louis Park. The City loans out Weed Wrenches to any residents, for a one week period, which will facilitate the pulling and removal of buckthorn up to 1 inch in diameter.
Once you remove buckthorn from your property you should bundle it for your weekly yard waste pick-up or hire a tree contractor to remove it. To reserve a wrench please contact Jean Zimmerman @ 952-924-2656 or jzimmerman@stlouispark.org.
