Spring Clean-up Day

The Annual Spring Clean-Up Day will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the St. Louis Park Municipal Service Center, 7305 Oxford St. The event is for St. Louis Park residents only, personal identification will be required.

For a fee:

  • Bulky items for disposal (furniture, toys, remodeling supplies, equipment, etc.).
  • Appliances and CRT Monitors, Box/Tube TV's.
  • Tires will be collected for shredding and reuse.
  • Mattresses and box springs can be brought to the event for recycling for a fee of $20 each, regardless of size.

For no charge:

  • Bicycles in ANY CONDITION.
  • Electronics - Excludes CRT Monitors, Box/Tube TV's.
  • Gently used items for donation.
  • Textile recycling - Bring torn and worn clothes, shoes (pairs only), linens, towels, fabric scraps and rags for free recycling. Clean and dry only please.
  • Scrap metal recycling - Bring in old metal grills, steel shelving, bed frames etc. Lawn mowers and snow blowers must be drained of all fluids.
  • Paper shredding - Bring in your papers for free shredding. Limit three grocery-sized bags per vehicle. Shredded paper will be recycled.
  • Fluorescent bulb recycling - Limit 10 bulbs per vehicle.  Bring in your expired, unbroken fluorescent bulbs (including compact fluorescent lights, U-tube and circline fluorescent tubes, bug zappers, black lights, germicidal bulbs, high output bulbs and cold-cathode fluorescent bulbs) for proper disposal.

Not accepted:
Please DO NOT bring tree debris, yard waste, garbage, recyclables, batteries, hazardous waste or concrete. Hazardous waste can be brought to Hennepin County’s event at the St. Louis Park Middle School June 11-13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To find disposal options for these items, visit Hennepin County's A to Z Guide

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event

Hennepin County is holding a spring community collection event for county residents to safely and properly dispose of unwanted garden and household hazardous wastes. Items are accepted for free and must only be a household waste. Business waste is not accepted.

The 2015 collection event will be at the St. Louis Park Middle School (2025 Texas Ave. S., enter off 22nd St. West) on June 11 -13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The county will accept many household hazardous wastes, including:

  • Automotive wastes (no motor oil or filters)
  • Aerosol cans
  • Batteries (household and vehicle)
  • Fluorescent and HID lamps (straight, compact, u-tube, circular) limit 25
  • Driveway sealer
  • Gas cylinders (40lbs or less) The county reserves the right not to accept cylinders that require special handling.
  • Mercury-containing items (thermostats and thermometers)
  • Pesticides
  • Paint, paint thinners, stains and solvents
  • Pool, photographic and hobby chemicals
  • Rechargeable products

Items NOT accepted: asbestos (friable), biological waste (medical & infectious), business generated waste, compressed gas cylinders & tanks greater than 40 pounds, construction debris, electronics, explosives, garbage, major appliances, oil (motor, transmission, cutting, lubricating, etc.), oil filters, pharmaceuticals, radioactive, recyclables (cardboard, glass, metal, paper, phone books, plastic, etc.), tires, yard waste

Hennepin County is no longer accepting electronic waste at event collections. Electronics are still being accepted at the permanent facilities.

As a year-round alternative to this collection, Hennepin County provides residents with permanent drop-off facilities located at 1400 W. 96th St. in Bloomington and 8100 Jefferson Highway in Brooklyn Park. Emergency Radio Field Day

All ages
The Twin Cities FM Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the National Emergency Radio Exercise sponsored by the American Radio Relay League. This type of communication capability has proven invaluable during national disasters. During this 24-hour event, thousands of radio contacts will be made throughout the United States and Canada. This is a wonderful opportunity to stop by and see emergency communication in action.

Summer Skateboard Series

Summer Skateboard Series
All ages and abilities
Participate in the seventh annual skateboard series sponsored by 3rd Lair Skate Park. Participants compete against other skateboarders at skate parks across the Twin Cities. Points will be given to each competitor based on their final standings during each contest. Winners of each division in each contest will receive passage to the Midwest Melee held at 3rd Lair near the end of summer. Participants will be divided into three levels to match ability.

National Night Out

All ages
Each year, Neighborhood Watch block captains throughout St. Louis Park organize block parties to organize block parties to celebrate National Night Out, and neighborhood associations organize larger events throughout the city.

This year, National Night Out will occur on Tuesday, August 4. You do not need to be a block captain to organize a National Night Out event for your neighbors. Registration information will be mailed to block captains in June.

Party registration forms and your street closure applications are due by Friday, July 24.
