Holiday Lights Recycling

updated: Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Tired of your old holiday decor? Want to update your decorations with efficient LED lights? Or maybe you want to finally get rid of the tangled mess of holiday light strings and cords that no longer work. Instead of tossing them in the trash, bring them to the Rec Center for FREE recycling!

It's easy! Stop by the St. Louis Park Rec Center to drop-off your old holiday light strings, lighted yard decorations and electrical cords (including telephone and extension cords). A designated bin is located next to the customer service desk inside the Rec Center. Items can be dropped off during business hours through January 15, 2012.

Every part of the light string will be recycled and you'll be providing employment training and job opportunities through PPL Industries and ATHC where workers who have social, economic and physical barriers are taught basic employment skills .

Ace Hardware and Xcel Energy have partnered with the Recycling Association of Minnesota and WCCO-TV to present the statewide Recycle Your Holidays campaign.

For more information contact the Rec Center at (952) 924-2540.
