Ice Skating Lessons - Tots
Starting new this fall, participants who register after the registration deadline will be placed on a waitlist and must wait for class assignment. Class assignment will not be guaranteed. The skating director will contact you prior to the first week of class.
Beginner Tots is an introductory class for those who have little or no skating experience. Skaters will learn the proper way to fall and stand up, to march standing still and while moving. The Tot 2 Badge requirements are a two-foot jump in place, forward swizzle standing still, a single swizzle and a beginning two foot glide.
Advanced Tots has previous skating experience and can move quickly and easily across the ice. Tot 3 badge requirements include: push and glide stroking, preparation for snowplow stop, dip while moving, and forward swizzle. Tot 4 badge requirements include: T-position and push, backward swizzles, two or one foot snowplow stop, and backward wiggle.
Hockey Tots is for tots interested in hockey who have completed Beginner Tots or equivalent. Hockey skates and helmet required. Hockey skaters will learn basic skating technique in the"ready" position. Skills include stationary ready position, glide in ready position, forward swizzle, one foot glides, one foot Inside edge glide around cone, two foot stationary jump, two foot moving jump, and forward squats.
