Plumbing Permits

In St. Louis Park, plumbing permits are required whenever an owner, licensed plumber or licensed water conditioning contractor perform any work covered by the Minnesota Plumbing Code. Permits are necessary for work on residential, commercial and industrial properties.
A plumbing permit is not required when work is limited to
- Repairing leaks in water piping
- Clearing stoppages in pipes
- Removing and reinstalling water closets. (However, if new material must be installed, a permit is required.)
- Annual testing of RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) backflow valves in potable water supply lines. (However, a permit is required if the RPZ is removed, replaced or rebuilt.)
