What documents do I need?
Construction-related permits generally require the items listed below; however, the documents you need may vary with the project. This is a general list; if you're unsure what to bring, please call (952)924-2588.
- Project plans or blueprints
- Site plan (if you're adding to the overall footprint of your property, installing a fence or building a deck or addition)
- Method of payment (cash, credit card or checks accepted)
- Contractors will also need their MN State License and EPA Lead Safe Certificate.

Plumbing Permits

In St. Louis Park, plumbing permits are required whenever an owner, licensed plumber or licensed water conditioning contractor perform any work covered by the Minnesota Plumbing Code. Permits are necessary for work on residential, commercial and industrial properties.
A plumbing permit is not required when work is limited to
- Repairing leaks in water piping
- Clearing stoppages in pipes
- Removing and reinstalling water closets. (However, if new material must be installed, a permit is required.)
- Annual testing of RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) backflow valves in potable water supply lines. (However, a permit is required if the RPZ is removed, replaced or rebuilt.)

Winter Parking Permit
updated: Thursday, December 29, 2011- The household has no garage or driveway (no permit fee, limit two permits per household)
- The household has off-street parking for only one vehicle but owns two vehicles (no permit fee, limit one permit per household)
- The household has off-street parking for only one vehicle but owns three or more vehicles (one free permit and $125 for one additional permit, limit two permits per household)
- The household has off-street parking for two vehicles but owns three or more vehicles ($125 per permit, limit two permits per household)
- The household requires the aid of a licensed caregiver and does not have off-street parking for the caregiver's vehicle ($25 for caregiver's permit; limit of one caregiver permit per household)
