updated: Wednesday, December 21, 2011The Public Works Department provides essential programs and services to the community such as street maintenance, snow plowing, drinking water, garbage and recycling, and sanitary sewer maintenance. For more information, see the Programs & Services section.
There are four divisions within the Public Works Department that work to provide safe, reliable, and efficient services to the community. About 58 full-time staff work in the Public Works Department.
Administration Division
This division provides administrative support for Public Works. They also manage the city's contract for residential garbage, yard waste, and recycling collection, and assist with the management of the roadway and utility infrastructure.
Engineering Division
This division oversees the development, design, construction, and management of the city's infrastructure including streets and surface water drainage; reviews projects to ensure design standards; project reviews and inspections; and permitting.
Streets & Traffic Division
This division is responsible for ensuring the safety of the traveling public.
Water & Sewer Division
This division is responsible for providing safe drinking water and managing the sanitary sewer and storm water collection systems.
