  • Camcorder tapes
  • Compact Discs (CDs)
  • Computer and floppy disks
  • DVDs

  • Ink jet and laser toner cartridges*
  • Jewel and plastic cases
  • SD™ cards
  • VHS tapes
  • Video tapes and cassettes

*Toner and ink cartridge refill bottles are not accepted.

Hennepin County is the first local option to accept such a wide variety of electronic media for recycling. In the first month of the program, 700 pounds of media have been collected for recycling at the drop-off facilities. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that every month approximately 100,000 pounds of CDs become obsolete in the United States and more than 5.5 million boxes of software are discarded each year.
