Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority Recommends Southwest LRT 3A
The Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) voted on the Southwest Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project’s Locally Preferred Alternative on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The HCRRA unanimously voted to recommend LRT 3A to the Metropolitan Council for inclusion in its 2030 Transportation Plan. The agenda, minutes, and video from the meeting are available here.
Metropolitan Council to take Action on Southwest Locally Preferred Alternative
In 2010 the Metropolitan Council will finalize the locally preferred alternative (LPA) selection process for the Southwest Transitway by amending the regional Transportation Policy Plan (TPP).
- May 26, 2010 -- Metropolitan Council Committee of the Whole meeting: Transportation Policy Plan amended to include the Southwest Transitway LPA.

In 2009 Hennepin County completed a study called, “TCWR Freight Rail Realignment Study.” This study evaluated options for a permanent location for trains now using the Kenilworth corridor. Click here for study.
