Environmental Stewardship

updated: Thursday, April 26, 2012

As a steward of its environment, the City of St. Louis Park promotes recycling in many of its higher-volume parks. To encourage this practice and reduce the amount of trash thrown into the recycling containers, the city is now using a yellow barrel with a flat top in these locations. It is clearly marked and identifiable as a recycling container.

Connected and engaged

updated: Monday, March 19, 2012

St. Louis Park is committed to being a connected and engaged community.
This strategic direction contains several focus areas:

  • Conducting research to determine what makes a neighborhood organization strong, viable and sustainable with an aim toward increasing and strengthening neighborhoods.
  • Developing an expanded and organized network of sidewalks and trails.
  • Promoting regional transportation issues and related dedicated funding sources affecting St. Louis Park including, but not limited to, Highway 100 and the Southwest Light Rail Transit proposal.
  • Evaluating and investigating additional north/south transportation options for the community.
  • Exploring creation of a multi-use civic center, including indoor (winter) use.
  • Directing the Human Rights Commission to examine the Diversity section of Vision St. Louis Park and develop goals and recommendations for actions.

Vision in Action - Arts & Culture grant program thriving in city

The City of St. Louis Park and the St. Louis Park Community Foundation provide grant funding for new arts programs that support community pride, connect artists and the community, and engage people in creative learning.

The City of St. Louis Park’s Arts & Culture Grant Program is a joint project of the City of St. Louis Park, the St. Louis Park Community Foundation, and St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts. The program makes grant dollars available annually for music, visual arts, theater, film, multimedia, dance, and other art projects.

Artists, arts groups, students, community groups, neighborhood, cultural and religious organizations are encouraged to apply. Applicants need not reside in St. Louis Park, but projects must take place within the city.
