Changes to Communication
The city has combined the Park Perspective newsletter with its Parks & Recreation brochure that is published annually in August, December and March. The elimination of three issues of Park Perspective does not mean residents will be less connected to city news, however. In fact, the city has more ways than ever to stay connected, including two new monthly electronic newsletters.

Here’s a look at the many ways that you can stay connected:
Parks & Recreation/Park Perspective
The publication is mailed three times annually to all resident and business addresses in St. Louis Park. The publication includes news and events and details on all Parks & Recreation programming offered by the city.

Electronic Newsletters
The city will begin publishing two monthly newsletters in June – one filled with business news of interest and one filled with general interest news and events much like Park Perspective.

Experience the Park
St. Louis Park is a progressive city that is located just west of the Twin Cities. Just minutes from downtown, residents and visitors are allowed to experience the attractions, events and excitement of a major metropolitan area, and still have the small town feel.

Some 45,000 people call St. Louis Park home for this reason, and find it a great place to experience all of the Twin Cities' amenities: the chain of lakes, the downtown theater district, shopping, universities, and major league sports.

St. Louis Park also has 51 parks to enjoy (11.5 percent of St. Louis Park's land is set aside for parks). Bike trails link St. Louis Park to downtown Minneapolis, the Uptown area, Hopkins and Chaska. The St. Louis Park and downtown area will provide you with plenty of fun and memorable moments.

In this section, you will find information about lodging, restaurants, and other activities happening in the St. Louis Park and downtown area.

Four Seasons to Enjoy
If you're visiting here from outside the Midwest, you may be wondering about Minnesota's famous winters. Cocooning types view Minnesota's snowy beauty nestled next to the fireplace while others embrace skating, sledding, snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing and other winter activities.

Winter can be longer here than in other states: cold temperatures begin in November and can last through March. Any Minnesotan will tell you that temperature alone is meaningless: we pay attention to wind chill (a calculation of how cold it feels on bare skin when the effects of temperature and wind speed are combined). Wind chills can, and do, dip below zero; however, winter days are often sunny.

Minnesotans have lots of experience with winter, so don't expect for much to close down after a snowfall. Schools are rarely closed for winter storms, and roads are usually plowed quickly. If it snows at night, major roadways are frequently plowed in time for the morning rush hour. Heated skyways in downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, mean visitors can frequently go straight from a warm car to offices, stores, and restaurants without ever stepping outdoors.

Don't forget that we do have three other wonderful seasons! Sandwiched between a long-awaited spring and a colorful autumn is a glorious summer. In an average summer, Twin Cites residents have to contend with only 15 days of 90-degree temperatures and only two or three days above 95 degrees.
