City receives upgraded insurance rating
The City of St. Louis Park recently moved up from a Class 3 to a Class 2 Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating. The change in rating is primarily due to work done by the St. Louis Park Fire Department in the areas of prevention and community risk reduction, including increased public education and engagement, more fire inspections and superior service from the city’s dispatch center and utilities department. St. Louis Park is one of only two communities in Minnesota to hold a Class 2 rating.
Since each insurance company uses the information differently, it is difficult to determine the impact of the ISO 2 rating on business and homeowner’s insurance. Residents and business owners may want to inform their insurance agent of the rating change in case it may lower premiums.
