Controlling stormwater runoff with rain barrels
Help control stormwater runoff by using rain barrels to collect rainwater runoff from your roof!
Like your driveway or the street, rain water from your roof runs off and into the St. Louis Park storm sewer system. Instead of going down the storm drain, this water could be collected in rain barrels and recycled and used for your landscaping needs. Rain barrels can hold eight percent of the runoff from your roof and three percent of the runoff from your entire residential property.
Through the Recycling Association of Minnesota's annual rain barrel sale, St. Louis Park residents can purchase rain barrels at a low cost. Residents receive 50 percent off the regular $79 (plus tax) cost when they use the code: StLouisPark.
To order, complete the online rain barrel order form and pick them up at the Municipal Service Center May 5, 8 a.m.-noon, or May 7, 5-7 p.m. If you cannot pickup your pre-ordered rain barrel during those times, contact Erick Francis, water resource manager, at 952.924.2690 to arrange for pickup.
