St. Louis Park proclaims June 1 National Gun Violence Awareness Day
At its May 21 meeting, in partnering with the St. Louis Park Chapter of Moms Demand Action, the St. Louis Park City Council proclaimed the first Friday in June as National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
The 4th National Gun Violence Awareness Day helps honor Hadiya Pendleton, a teenager who marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade and was tragically shot and killed just weeks later, and Americans who are victims of gun violence. Individuals can join the campaign by wearing orange on Friday, June 1, to help honor Hadiya, the 96 Americans whose lives are cut short every day by gun violence and the countless survivors of gun violence.
