2018 Junior Naturalists recognized
At the Aug. 20, 2018 city council meeting, the 2018 Westwood Hills Nature Center junior naturalists received recognition for their volunteer efforts. In 2018, there were 60 youth volunteers in the junior naturalist program who volunteered over 1,600 hours assisting with tasks such as animal care, program and camp aide, wild hikes, behind the scenes and the water garden. A number of these volunteers have been involved in the program for several years.
Junior naturalists are students entering 7th grade through those just completing their senior year of high school. They are interested in serving their community while gaining knowledge and experience in the outdoors.
Know someone interested in becoming a junior naturalist in 2019?
Applications for the 2019 program will be available in March 2019. Visit the Westwood Hills Nature Center volunteer webpage for more information and to check back for applications in March!
