Volunteers plant 78 trees at Aquila Park
On Saturday, May 11 the annual Arbor Day and Community Tree Planting event was held at Aquila Park, facilitated by the city's nonprofit partner Tree Trust.
Nearly 60 volunteers attended, including a few Girl Scout troops, nearby residents and a school group. The morning began with a short introduction from St. Louis Park Natural Resources Coordinator Jim Vaughan on the significance of community trees, followed by a tree planting pep talk from Tree Trust representatives.
Kidpower with Rachael played environmentally and interactive music to plant by, and as the music cranked up, Woodsy Owl began shaking his feathers, encouraging kids to do the same.
In total, 78 tress from 17 different tree species were planted by 11:30, helping to diversify Aquila Park's ecosystem for the future!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the event!
