Over 3,000 people attend annual Fire Department Open House
The 2019 Fire Department Open House was visited by well over 3,000 people on June 18, and the weather was perfect!
The theme this year focused on kitchen fires and watch what you heat. For the first time, there was a Community Health Resource section with a number of vendors available to help residents navigate care resources. The event also included:
- Members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) providing information on individual and family preparedness.
- Vehicles from the police department, Hennepin Healthcare Ambulance, the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and a many large city vehicles and equipment available for everyone to explore.
- Food collection bins for STEP.
- Demonstrations, including hands-only CPR, fire extinguishers, a kitchen education simulator trailer, grease fires, residential sprinklers and burn rooms showing the value of residential sprinklers.
Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual event to make it so successful!
We hope to see you at next year's open house!
