The St. Louis Park City Council appoints Councilmembers who will serve as Mayor Pro Tem to perform the duties of the Mayor during disability or absence, or, in the case of a vacancy in the office of Mayor, until a successor has been appointed or elected. Since 2014 the City Council has appointed Councilmembers to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for a four-month term on a rotating basis based upon seniority. The 2017 Mayor Pro Tem schedule is:

City hosts airport update October 24, 7 p.m.
The City of St. Louis Park has invited staff from the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) to provide an update on airport operations and noise at a city-hosted meeting Tuesday, October 24, at 7 p.m. at The Rec Center.
City Council asks Charter Commission to make recommendations related to municipal elections
At its Monday, October 2, regular meeting, the St. Louis Park City Council passed a resolution requesting the St. Louis Park Charter Commission provide recommendations to the city council regarding two possible charter amendments about municipal elections.
St. Louis Park City Council discusses ban of flavored tobacco sales
At an October 2, 2017, study session, the St. Louis Park City Council discussed a draft ordinance banning the sale of flavored tobacco in St. Louis Park, and asked city staff to prepare a proposed ordinance for a first reading to take place at the November 20, 2017, regular city council meeting.
