Councilmember Margaret Rog has served as Ward 1 councilmember since 2018. Councilmember Rog is a 25-year resident of St. Louis Park with a long history of volunteerism in the community. She’s served alongside other St. Louis Park residents on the Birchwood Neighborhood Association, the Peter Hobart PTO, the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission, and parent booster groups for the arts at St. Louis Park High School. She’s also served as an election judge and Children First asset champion, as well as Health in the Park grant writer and managing director for St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts.
Margaret started her career as a writer and editor after attending graduate school at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She also earned a B.A. in English from Augsburg College. She’s worked in the nonprofit sector her entire professional life, including in the arts, education, public health, and human services. She and her husband, Ben Weisner, are the parents of three adult children.
Margaret currently works as a development consultant for nonprofits in PK-12 and higher education, with a focus on increasing equity and economic opportunity for underserved populations. She is an avid runner, likes to make music, and is the primary caregiver for her 85-year-old mom.
