St. Louis Park poised to increase legal age to purchase tobacco
At a June 26, 2017, special meeting, the St. Louis Park City Council approved by a vote of 6-1 the first reading of an ordinance raising the legal age to purchase tobacco and tobacco products in St. Louis Park from 18 to 21 years old and increase administrative fines for violation of the ordinance.
A second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for July 17, 2017. Should the ordinance pass it would go into effect October 1, 2017, making St. Louis Park the second city in the state of Minnesota to enact such an ordinance.

Karen Barton to join city as community development director
The City of St. Louis Park is pleased to announce that Karen Barton will join the city as community development director starting July 17, 2017. Barton is currently assistant community development director for the City of Richfield, a position she has held since January 2008.
