Update (March 25, 2020): The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has flagged mental health as a top concern associated with the COVID-19 outbreak. The stay at home order allows for outdoor activities such as walking, running, biking or hiking while still maintaining physical distancing. Parks provide a connection to the outdoors and green space as well as opportunities for physical activity, which studies demonstrate reduces stress and improves mental health.

The City of St. Louis Park is not closing its parks, trails and open spaces and wants them to be used in a safe manner that allows people to enjoy the mental and physical health benefits these spaces provide. Follow these guidelines when using the parks and trails to minimize risk to yourself and others.

  • Don’t use parks and trails if you are sick or exhibiting symptoms.
  • Maintain 6 feet of distance from other individuals at all times.
  • Prepare for limited availability of restrooms and water fountains.
  • Playground structures are closed.
  • Wash your hands before and after visiting the park.
  • Follow CDC guidance on the recommended size of social gatherings including outdoor picnicking, pick-up sports and other group hangouts, and maintain physical distance.
