Public Ice Skating & Hockey

Public skating, public hockey and skating lessons are canceled until further notice. This action is being taken in order to protect the health and wellness of participants and the community. Thank you for your understanding! 


The skating times below are reserved for general public skating - no hockey sticks, pucks, equipment or goals are allowed.

Skating is available for all ages. No registration is required.

Indoor skating

Indoor public skating is available at The Rec Center, 3700 Monterey Drive.

March 2 – June 7 Dates and Times
Monday, Wednesday, Friday Noon – 1:30 p.m. (no skating May 25)
Saturday 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. (no skating May 23)
Sunday 2:15 – 3:45 p.m. (no skating April 12, May 24)
June 13 – Aug. 30 Dates and Times
Saturday 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. (no skating July 18, Aug. 15, Aug. 22)
Sunday 2:15 – 3:45 p.m. (no skating July 19, Aug. 16)


  • Youth and senior: $3.50 per person
  • Adult: $4 per person
  • 10-passes (youth and senior): $30
  • 10-passes (adult): $35


Adult open hockey

Open hockey is available at The Rec Center's indoor ice arena for those 16 and older. The schedule is subject to change. Call 952.924.2567 to confirm dates and times

March 10 – June 2 days and times
Tuesdays and Thursdays Noon – 1:30 p.m.

  • $45 for 10-pass punch card
Youth open hockey

Bring your own equipment and have fun playing open hockey on non-school days and holiday breaks at The Rec Center. It is recommended that a parent or guardian be in attendance during skating sessions. This is a drop-in program without staff supervision. Youth open hockey is for those ages 6 - 15.

March 30 – April 3 days and times
Monday – Friday 10:15 – 11:45 a.m.


  • $5 per person
  • $45 for 10-pass punch card

Rec Center Skate Shop

The skate shop is located in The Rec Center next to the gallery in between the west and east arenas. The shop features rental skates, skate sharpening and a small pro shop.

The shop is open Saturdays 10 a.m – noon and Sundays 2 – 4 p.m. Skate rental and sharpening services are available by request outside of these hours. You can drop off skates and they will be sharpened within 48 hours.

Skate rentals are $3 and skate sharpening is $5 per pair.

Skating lessons

St. Louis Park Skate School offers the Ice Skating Institute (I.S.I.) weSKATE program for ages four and up. Each class presents a progression of specific skills that build upon one another. View a list of current ice skating and hockey lessons.
