Westwood Hills Nature Center offers a wide variety of educational programs for all ages. Use the online registration button below to register for the following programs.

The following programs will be offered April – August 2019. Visit the online registration website for more information and to register.

Family programs

Family programs are for all ages, unless noted otherwise. Children ages two and over must pay and be accompanied by a paid adult unless otherwise stated.

  • Campfire program – Dusk on the Dock (ages 2 and over)
  • Campfire program – Summer Solstice (ages 2 and over)
  • Family Canoeing (ages 7 and over)

 

Preschool programs

Puppet Story TimePuppet Story Time

Laugh out loud as the Westwood puppets tell a story in their animated comical style. Puppet Story Time is all ages; those 2 and over must pay and be accompanied by a paid adult. Upcoming Puppet Story Time programs:

  • Buggin’ Out – July
  • Monarch Madness - August
  • Squirrel Tails – June

Tuesday Turtles Preschool

The Tuesday Turtles Preschool program will explore and discover the world outside while on naturalist-led hikes. The Spring season has ended. Tuesday Turtles will begin again in September.

 Home school programs

Two boys orienteeringWestwood Hills Nature Center is a great resource for home school science learning activities! We can customize our recreation and natural history programs to fit a variety of ages and learning needs. Call 952.924.2544 for more information about scheduling a visit for a small group or home school cooperative.

Home school programs are for ages 5 - 12; child(ren) must be accompanied by an adult. No charge for supervising adult.

Summer program topics could include:

  • Animals Inside and Out
  • Animal Tracks and Signs
  • Archery
  • Canoeing
  • Fire Building
  • Orienteering
  • Reptiles and Amphibians
  • Spring Birds
