What you do at Westwood Hills Nature Center?

I am a secretary/program aide at Westwood. I answer phones, greet visitors, process bill payments and enter registrations.

I have a degree in land management – recreation, and have 33 years of experience.

How has nature impacted your life?

I grew up with a big marsh, a wooded area and Minnehaha Creek for my playground. I learned to explore the beauty of a tiny plant and the creatures that live in and around the creek and marsh area. I could use my imagination and build my own areas out of the things I found in nature. I also spent a lot of time at the cabin fishing, canoeing, boating and hanging out in and by the lake.

What is your favorite animal?

I don’t really have a favorite. I like many animals, but if I had to pick one I’d say an eagle.

What are your interests and hobbies?

I enjoy music, singing, hiking, theater, bike riding, working out, jogging, camping, going to the cabin, fishing, cross-country skiing, traveling, reading by the beach or pool, sports, BBQs and just hanging around with friends and family!

What is your favorite activity or program at Westwood?

My favorite would have to be maple syruping or the Honey Harvest.

What is your favorite place at Westwood?

I have two. The four-way intersection where the memorial benches are for my mom and dad, and the new pond area in front of the building.
