Pianos on Parade in St. Louis Park
updated: Thursday, May 18, 2017
The City of St. Louis Park, Keys 4/4 Kids and St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts have teamed up to bring Pianos on Parade to St. Louis Park this summer! The two pianos – one decorated by local artist Pam Luer and the other by students at Susan Lindgren Elementary School – will make their debut at the Children First Ice Cream Social/ROC Grand Opening Sunday, May 21, 2-5 p.m. at the ROC, 3700 Monterey Drive, St. Louis Park.
Following the Ice Cream Social, one piano will move to the West End atrium for the summer (under the roof), while another will be at the Rec Center until it takes a ride in the Parktacular Parade June 17. After that it will be moved to another location in the city, as yet to be determined. Passersby are invited to play the pianos, regardless of technical skill or experience. The Keys 4/4 Kids mission is repurpose donated pianos in ways that inspire hope, promote the love of music, provide educational opportunities and empower creative expression.
In September both pianos will be moved to a permanent location indoors within the city.
