Update (March 25, 2020): The Rec Center, ROC and Westwood Hills Nature Center interpretive building will close to the public until further notice. The closures include all rentals and programs scheduled at these facilities during this time period. Trails and outdoor areas at Westwood Hills Nature Center remain open to visitors. These closures are to help protect the health and wellness of the St. Louis Park community due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. For questions call 952.924.2540.

The ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center) is a multi-use outdoor recreational facility located on the campus of The Rec Center.

The facility is used as a covered ice rink in the winter months for hockey, open public skating, broomball and other special skating events. In the spring, it can be converted to a covered, turfed field for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse, as well as special events such as the annual spring egg hunt. During the summer, a dry, concrete floor provides space for the Children First Ice Cream Social and a variety of other special events from weddings to movies in the park, to graduation parties.

Facility rental information

The ROC's has three different rental opportunities depending on the time of year - turf rental, dry floor rental and ice arena rental. The facility rental space measures 200 feet by 85 feet and includes bleacher seating for 450. Call 952.924.2540 to reserve your event.

Ice arena rental, Oct. 14 – March 8, 2020 (weather permitting)

Rent the outdoor ice arena for birthday parties, celebrations and company or school events. Up to 15 rental skates are included with private ice rental.

Plan your wedding or next event at the ROC. The outdoor facility accommodates up to 700 people for wedding receptions, Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, company events, birthday parties and large-scale gatherings. The facility rental includes a public announcement (PA) system. There is a $60 food and beverage fee for events over 100 people, and a $300 refundable damage deposit.

ShamROC Ice Bowling

The March 14 ShamROC Ice Bowling event has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. This action is being taken in order to protect the health and wellness of participants and the community. If you registered for the event, your money will be refunded. We plan to host the event in 2021 and hope you’ll join us then. Thank you for your understanding.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to bowl on ice? You're in luck! The city is hosting its inaugural ShamROC Ice Bowling extravaganza for those age 18 and older. Bowl four frames for the chance to win fabulous prizes, and stay for food, drinks, music and fun! You can also meet Ryan from the KS95 Morning Show from 2 – 5 p.m. Register your team of four and select your timeslot! Register online under the "bowling" league.

Lions Club Egg Hunt

Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m.

Participants will hunt for candy and special eggs in separate age categories. Each participant will receive a bag to collect their
goodies. Bring your camera for a picture with the Park Bunny! Prizes will be awarded for the coloring contest for ages 8 and
under. Pick up a color sheet at The Rec Center, or download it when you register. Bring your completed masterpiece to the event. Egg hunt will begin promptly at 10:15 a.m. Event is sponsored by the St. Louis Park Lions Club. Register online.

Children First Ice Cream Social and Kids Garage Sale

Sunday, May 17, 2 – 5p.m.

Join us at the Children First Ice Cream Social for a free day of family fun! Festivities include free Sebastian Joe’s and kosher ice cream, entertainment and interactive activities.

During the event, a kids garage sale will take place where kids ages 6 – 12 can get hands-on experience of the ins and outs of handling money while selling toys they no longer play with. Children must be accompanied by an adult during the sale. Register online.

Rummage Sale

Ready to do some cleaning? Get your garage or storage area cleaned out and turn your stuff into cash! Or, stop in and turn other people's stuff into your new treasures. The event will be held rain or shine and is available for all ages. Free to attend! Register online.

Clothing Swap

Penny Carnival

July 24, noon – 2 p.m.
ROC, 3700 Monterey Drive

Save your pennies for this fun, low-cost carnival! Show off your skills at the fun carnival games, boogie-woogie to the DJ and jump in the moonwalks. Enjoy hay rides, refreshments and more. The event is for ages 3 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Your own transportation to and from the ROC must be provided. Participants must wear socks if jumping in the moonwalks.

  • Fee: free to attend; games and activities cost between 2 –4 cents; refreshment coupon is $1

Community Link and SLP SEEDS Harvest Festival

Community Link and the SLP Seeds Harvest Festival have come together to provide you with the best of both events. It is an interactive community event that links St. Louis Park families with community services and resources in an easy one-stop shop format! The free event offers garden tours, school resources, haircuts, family portraits, employment resources and health care information. A community meal will be served, and transportation may be available.

The St. Louis Park Art Fair attracts thousands of visitors to the ROC to celebrate and shop 70 local artist booths, food trucks, entertainment, live art demos and community art projects.
