ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center)

The ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center) is a multi-use outdoor recreational facility located on the campus of The Rec Center.

The facility is used as a covered ice rink in the winter months for hockey, open public skating, broomball and other special skating events. In the spring, it can be converted to a covered, turfed field for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse, as well as special events such as the annual spring egg hunt. During the summer, a dry, concrete floor provides space for the Children First Ice Cream Social and a variety of other special events from weddings to movies in the park, to graduation parties.

Facility rental information

The ROC's has three different rental opportunities depending on the time of year - turf rental, dry floor rental and ice arena rental. The facility rental space measures 200 feet by 85 feet and includes bleacher seating for 450. Call 952.924.2540 to reserve your event. 

Turf rental, March 23 – May 8

The outdoor facility will have turf, which is great for soccer, football or other activities.

Plan your wedding or next event at the ROC. The outdoor facility accommodates up to 700 people for wedding receptions, Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, company events, birthday parties and large-scale gatherings. The facility rental includes a PA system. There is a $60 food and beverage fee for events over 100 people.

Rent the outdoor ice arena for birthday parties, celebrations and company or school events. Up to 15 rental skates are included with private ice rental.

Special events

Crossfit at the ROC

Saturday, June 23 – July 28, 8 – 8:45 a.m. and 9 – 9:45 a.m. 

This total body strength and conditioning class will get you sweating with a high intensity workout that focuses on burning fat and building muscle. These group classes are for those ages 16 and over and of all fitness levels. For more information, visit the Crossfit Minnetonka website.

Fee: $99 per person per time slot or $20 per person daily fee

Summer Teen ROC
Saturday, July 28, 7 – 9 p.m.

Let’s rock under the ROC this summer and hear some tunes from some great local youth bands. Bands will play back-to-back. Come down for some fun entertainment and to hang out at the ROC on a summer evening.

Middle and high school students: Do you have a band and want to play under the ROC for your family and friends? We are looking for bands to play in our Summer Teen ROC event. Interested bands need to submit an inquiry to Lisa Abernathy at 952.924.2539 or labernathy@stlouispark.org by June 8.

Community Link

Wednesday, Aug. 22, 5 – 8 p.m.

Community Link is an interactive community event that links St. Louis Park families in need of short- or long-term support with community services and resources that may be difficult for them to access. The free event offers services, such as: haircuts, bike repair, family portraits, employment resources and health care information. A picnic style meal is served and Aquatic Park access is available to participants attending the event.

Friday movie nights - Coming this fall
Bring the family out on select Thursday nights for free entertainment at the ROC for some oldies, but goodies movie selections. Watch for more details in the fall brochure.
