Skating

The skating times below are reserved for general public skating - no hockey sticks, pucks, equipment or goals are allowed.

Skating is available for all ages. No registration is required.

Indoor skating

Indoor public skating is available at The Rec Center, 3700 Monterey Drive.

June 15 – Aug. 25 dates and times
Saturday 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. (No skating Aug. 17 and 24)
Sunday 2:15 – 3:45 p.m. (No skating Aug. 18)
Sept. 4 – Dec. 30 Dates and Times
Monday, Wednesday, Friday Noon – 1:30 p.m. (no skating Dec. 25 and 27)
Saturday 10:15 – 11:45 a.m. (no skating Dec. 28)
Sunday 2:15 – 3:45 p.m.

Fees:

  • Youth and senior: $3.50 per person
  • Adult: $4 per person
  • 10-pass punch card (youth and senior): $30
  • 10-pass punch card (adult): $35
Outdoor skating

Outdoor public skating is available at the Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC), 3700 Monterey Drive, Oct. 25 – March 8.

Friday 5:45 – 7:15 p.m. (no skating Nov. 1 and 15)
Saturday 12:15 – 1:45 p.m. (no skating Nov. 2 and 16)
Sunday 12:15 – 1:45 p.m. (no skating Nov. 3)

Fees:

  • Youth and senior: $3.50 per person
  • Adult: $4 per person
  • 10-pass punch card (youth and senior): $30
  • 10-pass punch card (adult): $35

Hockey

Adult open hockey

Open hockey is available at The Rec Center's indoor ice arena for those 16 and older. The schedule is subject to change. Call 952.924.2567 to confirm dates and times

Sept. 3 – Dec. 31 days and times
Tuesdays and Thursdays Noon – 1:30 p.m. (no skating Nov. 28, Dec. 26) 

Fees:

  • $5 per person
  • $45 for 10-pass punch card
MEA youth open hockey

Kids ages 6 - 15, bring your own equipment and have fun playing open hockey on non-school days at The Rec Center. It is recommended that a parent or guardian be in attendance during skating sessions. This is a drop-in program without staff supervision.

Oct. 17 – 18 days and times
Thursday and Friday 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Fees:

  • $5 per person
  • $45 for 10-pass punch card
ROC open pond hockey

Open pond hockey will be held at the Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC), 3700 Monterey Drive.

Oct. 26 – March 8 days and times
Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. – noon (no skating Nov. 2 and 3)

Fee: Free

Rec Center Skate Shop

The skate shop is located in The Rec Center next to the gallery in between the west and east arenas. The shop features rental skates, skate sharpening and a small pro shop.

The shop is open Saturdays 10 a.m – noon and Sundays 2 – 4 p.m. Skate rental and sharpening services are available by request outside of these hours. You can drop off skates and they will be sharpened within 48 hours.

Skate rentals are $3 and skate sharpening is $5 per pair.

Skating lessons

St. Louis Park Skate School offers the Ice Skating Institute (I.S.I.) weSKATE program for ages four and up. Each class presents a progression of specific skills that build upon one another. View a list of current ice skating and hockey lessons.
