The Rec Center

City of St. Louis Park - Rec CenterThe St. Louis Park Rec Center, 3700 Monterey Drive, features an outdoor aquatic park, two indoor ice arena—used by both St. Louis Park and Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys and girls High School hockey teams—and meeting and banquet facilities.

Admission fee events are not allowed at The Rec Center (Banquet/Gallery/Amphitheater/Aquatic Park) unless partnered with the City of St. Louis Park.

2017 Rec Center Rental Guide

Banquet Room Rental
Located on the second floor of The Rec Center, the Banquet Room overlooks the Aquatic Park and Wolfe Park. The room is available for wedding receptions, birthday parties, bar and bat mitzvah parties, company events, family reunions and large meetings. The room comfortably seats 160 people and offers a caterer's holding kitchen, dance floor, dimmable lighting and sound system. Audio-visual equipment can be rented for an additional fee. Contact Complete Beverage Service at 1.800.550.7750 if you wish to have alcohol at your event. An additional $295 charged to retain police officer if alcohol is served.

  • Sunday through Friday (two-hour minimum): $65 per hour (resident) / $75 (non-resident)
  • Saturday (8 a.m. - midnight): $625 (resident) / $725 (non-resident)
  • $725 refundable damage and kitchen cleaning deposit
  • Total fee depends on duration of rental and amenities

Gallery Room Rental
Located on the first floor of The Rec Center, the gallery can accommodate up to 60 people for small group gatherings, team meetings and birthday parties. Audio-visual equipment can be rented for an additional fee. Total fee depends on duration of rental and amenities.

  • Available to rent Sunday to Saturday, 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. (two-hour minimum)
  • $50 per hour (resident) / $60 per hour (non-resident)
  • $100 refundable damage deposit

Indoor Ice Skating Party
During open public skating sessions, either the Gallery or the Banquet Room can be rented for private parties. Each party will include two hour use of a room and admission to open skating for up to 15 people. Skate rental will be available for an additional $3 per pair.

Indoor Ice Rink Rental
Rent The Rec Center’s indoor ice arena for birthday parties, celebrations, and company or school events. We’ll provide the gallery room for two hours without additional charge. The Banquet Room can also be reserved for use at half price the cost. Up to 15 rental skates are included with private ice rental.

Veterans Memorial Amphitheater

Terraced into the hill on the south side of Wolfe Park (3700 Monterey Drive), the amphitheater connects the park to the Excelsior & Grand Town Green. All park buildings are fully enclosed, have indoor restrooms, tables and chairs, and are available for rent. Alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed in any park.

$300 damage deposit for all park buildings

Holidays: Buildings generally cannot be reserved on Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day weekend or Labor Day weekend.

Open Air Picnic Shelter Rental

Beginning January 2, you may reserve your picnic shelter at the parks listed below! These open-air shelters can accommodate groups of 20 to 100. Outdoor Skate Park

The skate park was previously located on the west side of The Rec Center, 3700 Monterey Drive, and moved in 2016 to make way for construction of the ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center). For the 2017 season, it will remain at its temporary location at Nelson Park, 2500 Georgia Ave. S. The new skate park is expected to be complete in September 2017.

Our Tier 1 skateboard park features two platforms with four foot high ramps on each end of the paved skating surface as well as grinding rails and box. Any scheduled classes or programs which could limit open skating will be posted at the Skate Park. For rental information, call 952.924.2540.

Are you a skate park user? You're invited to a meeting Wednesday, May 24, 5 - 6 p.m. at St. Louis Park City Hall to provide input on design of a new skate park, to be located at Carpenter Park near St. Louis Park City Hall.
 
The city has hired California Skateparks to design and build the new skate park. At this meeting, California Skateparks representatives will walk attendees through a process to gain design input on the new park.
