Location

The drop-off site address is:

  • 2501 Edgewood Ave. S., St. Louis Park

The entrance is located at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Colorado Avenue South on the southeast side of the railroad tracks.

Dates and hours

Beginning May 5, 2020 and until late October, the site will be open to St. Louis Park residents during the hours listed below:

  • Tuesdays: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Sundays: noon – 4 p.m.

Fees and ID 

There is no charge for St. Louis Park residents. A Minnesota ID, driver’s license or utility bill is required as proof of residency.

Accepted materials

  • Branches/tree limbs up to 8 feet in length (no diameter restrictions)
  • Brush
  • Logs

Unacceptable materials

  • Rocks
  • Root balls or stumps
  • Dirt/soil
  • Trash, metal, concrete, fences
  • Lumber or wood scraps
  • Yard waste (grass clippings, leaves and small branches)

Note: Leaves and grass are not accepted from residents at the brush site. Set these items out for curbside collection, along with sticks and small branches (less than 4 feet in length or 4 inches in diameter), during yard waste collection season April – November.

Compost pickup

St. Louis Park residents can pick up a limited amount of compost at the site during hours listed above. The compost is stored beyond the check-in gate, near the site operator shed.

Up to 25-gallons (five 5-gallon buckets worth) can be picked up per household each spring and fall. Bring your own shovel and containers for the compost. Please be prepared to show ID as listed above.

The compost provided by the city’s contractor, The Mulch Store, is made from yard trimmings and organics from St. Louis Park's program and meets the United States Composting Council's Seal of Testing Assurance Program (STA) requirements.

Wood chips/mulch and screen dirt for pick up

Free shredded wood mulch and screened black dirt is available to city residents at the residential brush drop-off site, 2501 Edgewood Ave. S. The mulch and soil are stored outside of the site’s gate near the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Colorado Avenue South. It can be picked up at any time Sunday – Saturday.

Mulch and soil are typically available spring through fall.

Note: The screened soil is not sanitized and may contain some weed seeds.

Mulch delivery

Mulch delivery is available for a fee. The cost for a half load is $75 and a full load is $135. Contact parks superintendent, Rick Beane, at 952.928.2854 to schedule a delivery.
