For households that receive city collection service, Christmas trees can be set out for collection at the curb or alley on your regular collection day.
Real (cut) Christmas trees will be collected on your regular collection day for no charge from Jan. 2 – 19, 2018. Set your tree out by 7 a.m. and make sure your tree is not stuck in the ice or snow on collection day. Do not bag your tree, and please remove all decorations, wires, stands, lights, tinsel, etc.
Artificial trees should be donated, given away for reuse or disposed of in the trash. Smaller artificial trees can be placed in your garbage cart, and there is no need to bag it. Waste Management will accept larger artificial trees that are too big to fit in your trash cart through bulk pickup for $7.50, plus tax. You must call Waste Management at 763.783.5423 prior to setting out your artificial tree.
Note: Residents living in multi-family buildings may take real trees to the city’s brush drop-off site during the month of January on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Artificial trees are not accepted. Visit Hennepin County’s website to find other yard waste sites that accept trees.
